San Antonio, A Truly Friendly Destination

June 12th, 2008 · No Comments

Residents (and visitors) to San Antonio have long enjoyed the charms of their city – and their neighbors. And now, the good vibes of this Texan treasure are being showcased throughout the United States. NBC’s Today Show has recently ranked San Antonio as one of the five friendliest in the nation!

No mere programming gimmick, these rankings actually involved a variety of very serious criteria, including: safety, diversity, the city’s amount of parks and public spaces, civic celebrations , and personal stories of friendliness. In addition, the judging board also took into consideration various statistics.

For example, they considered whether or not the city offer s a large enough hotel inventory to welcome visitors. And with more than 36,000 hotel rooms, San Antonio’s certainly qualifies! Other vote-getters included the number of tourists the city attracts (the city beckons 26 million annually), and the median cost of a single-family home (a cost-effective $150,000).

Whether or not you’re searching for a way to drop those excess pounds, San Antonio particularly shines when it comes to creating attractive parks and exercise trails. And, with 68 miles of urban hike and bike trails, and more than 11,000 acres of urban parks, this was one of the main reasons that San Antonio was selected by the Today Show!
